In short

Angolan comics history is thinly documented.

Early examples include A vitória é certa, a literacy manual in comics form produced by the MPLA in 1968, and Man'kiko, a character created by Sergio Picarra in 1984 that was an immediate success. Henrique Abranches, a writer and public figure, set up schools to spread comics, and newspaper cartoonists such as Casimiro Pedro of Jornal de Angola carry the political tradition. Since 2010 the Luanda Cartoon team has taken part in the Luso-Angolan fanzine BDLP.
