Kuwaiti comics history runs through the country's press and children's magazines.
Ahmad Al-Nafisi, introduced by the magazine Al-Shaab in 1958, is counted as the first cartoonist from Kuwait, and the children's magazines Saad (1969) and Al-Arabi Al-Saghir (1986) carried comics by Kuwaiti and other Arab artists. In 2006 Naif Al-Mutawa's Teshkeel Comics launched The 99, a superhero series based on the 99 attributes of God in Islam, and from 2007 Mohammad Thallab's daily cartoon Bu Qatada wa Bu Nabeel ran in Al-Watan.
